September has run away from me which is why I’m posting an August monthly update more than halfway into September… woops. Slap on the wrist for me.
I’m going to keep this one pretty short because there are more important posts I’d like to focus on in the near future. Probably more exciting too, seeing as I haven’t done too much in August and I’d like to write about the things I actually HAVE done!
Where I’ve Been:
Watkins Glen, NY, USA
Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada
Toronto, Canada
Highlights:
Pretty vineyards of Niagara-on-the-Lake
I pretty much lost my sh*t when I saw the beauty of the vineyards on the wine trail of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Rows and rows of vineyards with picnic benches within them and shaded patios serving wine-themed gelato. Mmmmm. It was lovely, although the actual wine tasting is ludicrously expensive compared to the Finger Lakes wine region in the USA, which lost the area brownie points for me, though I still admire the atmosphere.
Diner en Blanc
I volunteered at Toronto’s Diner en Blanc – basically a dinner/party with a secret location where everyone brings their own equipment and dresses in white – which meant that I was the first point of contact with members in my group to relay the information and answer any questions. It was a bit stressful at times, but I was able to attend with my boyfriend for free, so that was a huge bonus.
I’m under no illusions that this sounds like a strange, cult-like event, but it really is a lovely atmosphere and everyone is in good spirits – plus, people-watching is at its peak. I’d be happy to go again in another city!
Lowlights
I’m not going to do separate categories this time, because sometimes in life, things change drastically month to month, and sometimes they just really don’t. So like last month’s update, money and missing home is still the same lowlights here. In good news, I’ve booked flights back home in December, so I’ve got that to look forward to!

What’s Next?
September has already half-gone (how?!) and so far I’ve attended a wedding in the US, making a trip out of it by driving from Toronto through Vermont (stopping at the Ben & Jerry’s Factory) into Massachusetts. The rest of September has a few Toronto outings, including a cocktail crawl. Stay tuned!
